The Foggy Bottom community is a historic D.C. neighborhood with numerous attractions for you to find. Located just to the west of the White House, this area offers a variety of landmarks, including museums, historic houses, a university, and more. George Washington University takes up much of the area of Foggy Bottom, and allows visitors on campus at any time. Or, just travel around the community to see 18th and 19th century houses still standing. You can visit the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of the Interior buildings here, and the Department of the interior has a museum open at some times. The Art Museum of the Americas is here as well, open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, with admission free. Also close by is the DAR Constitution Hall, which includes a library open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and a museum open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., both Monday through Friday. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts offers tours and food whenever you like, with great shows on many evenings. Parking around Foggy Bottom is available on the street; however, it fills up quickly, so the best transportation to the area is the Metro, with the most central station being the Foggy Bottom-GWU on the Blue and Orange lines. A number of WMATA Metrobus lines serve the area and there are parking garages in the area as well.
